C. John Holt, 42 Iris Street, asked Council when the Entry Features Program would be
completed. Mr. Holt advised he knew there had been delays caused by CalTrans and
CalTrain, but the area around Hamilton looked like a vast wasteland and asked if the City
couldn't at least begin planting some trees and do the project in phases.
City Manager Everett and Planning Director Patterson advised that all the delays were
finally over, the specifications had been completed and approved by all agencies, and the
Planning Department was preparing the project to go out for bid. Director Patterson said the
project would begin construction in late winter or early spring. City Manager Everett
explained that doing the project in phases added additional costs to the total project.
MEMO 11/28/95
D. Denise Introcaso and Carolynn Santos, parents of children in the John GilVOrion
Immersion Schools in Redwood City, told the Council how happy they were with their
children's schools and how important parent involvement was in schools and education.
Mrs. Introcaso invited the Council to "A Fiesta to Bring our Community Together - John
Gill/Orion Spanish Immersion", Thursday, December 7, 1995,6-9 p.m., Hoover School, 701
Charter Street. Attendees were urged to bring a toy for the "Toys for Tots" program.
E. Keith Bautista, Chairperson of the Board of Building Review, said he had been a member
of the Board for fifteen years, and described Redwood City Building Official John LaTorra
as a man greatly respected for his integrity and intelligence. Mr. Bautista advised that Mr.
La Torra has achieved national recognition for his work on the Uniform Building Code, and
he was professional, patient and dedicated to listening to people and resolving issues.
Redwood City was fortunate to have Mr. LaTorra as its Building Official.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
