Vice Mayor Claire made a formal recommendation that this matter be referred to a two-member Council Personnel Committee to conduct a limited review of the two matters articulated above by Councilman Greenalch, and that the Committee bring back a recommendation to the Council. CONSENSUS: It was determined by Mayor Buchan to be the consensus of the Council to refer this matter to the Personnel Committee for limited review of the two subject matters, and to have Councilman and Committee member Greenalch serve with Chairman Claire on the Personnel Committee. MINUTE ORDER NO. 93-213 B. Councilman Greenalch reported on the very successful 5th Annual Project Read Trivia Bee held on Friday, October 22, 1993. C. Councilwoman La Berge reported on the Children's Executive Council of which she is a member, and described its efforts to bring quality care to children in San Mateo County and to involve more City officials in its policy decisions. D. Councilman Greenalch reported on the October 10, 1993 very successful meeting with residents of the Oak Knoll/Canyon Road area, and described areas of concern that will be addressed by staff. E. Councilwoman Gasparini reminded everyone to join in the fun on Saturday, 8:30 A.M. to clean up Rolison Road; and invited everyone to attend the Red Ribbon Week Barbecue at the Senior Center the same day at 4:30 P.M. Councilwoman Gasparini invited everyone to nominate outstanding Redwood City citizens to be honored at the Sequoia Awards dinner in the spring. F. Councilwoman Steinfeld advised there would be dockside tours of the "Lady Washington" historic ship beginning Saturday, October 30th. Councilwoman Steinfeld reported that the Surgeon General of the U.S. was in Redwood City over the weekend honoring the Ellipse Program which originated in Redwood City. Councilwoman Steinfeld asked that Ellipse be recognized by the Council. MEMO 10/26/93 Councilwoman Steinfeld reminded everyone that an AIDS vigil will take place in the rotunda of the County Courthouse at 5:30 P.M., Friday, October 29, 1993. G. Mayor Buchan gave a brief report on the trip she recently took to China to sign the Sister City Agreement with Zhuhai City. Mayor Buchan described the delegation that accompanied her, and the impressive growth of Zhuhai City and its value as a Sister City. Mayor Buchan invited everyone to come up and see the two lovely vases presented to Redwood City from the officials of Zhuhai, and advised that Redwood City will be visited by four delegations from Zhuhai City next year.
