<br />Vice Mayor Claire made a formal recommendation that this matter be referred <br />to a two-member Council Personnel Committee to conduct a limited review of <br />the two matters articulated above by Councilman Greenalch, and that the <br />Committee bring back a recommendation to the Council. <br />CONSENSUS: It was determined by Mayor Buchan to be the consensus of the <br />Council to refer this matter to the Personnel Committee for limited review <br />of the two subject matters, and to have Councilman and Committee member <br />Greenalch serve with Chairman Claire on the Personnel Committee. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 93-213 <br />B. Councilman Greenalch reported on the very successful 5th Annual Project Read <br />Trivia Bee held on Friday, October 22, 1993. <br />C. Councilwoman La Berge reported on the Children's Executive Council of which <br />she is a member, and described its efforts to bring quality care to children <br />in San Mateo County and to involve more City officials in its policy <br />decisions. <br />D. Councilman Greenalch reported on the October 10, 1993 very successful <br />meeting with residents of the Oak Knoll/Canyon Road area, and described <br />areas of concern that will be addressed by staff. <br />E. Councilwoman Gasparini reminded everyone to join in the fun on Saturday, <br />8:30 A.M. to clean up Rolison Road; and invited everyone to attend the Red <br />Ribbon Week Barbecue at the Senior Center the same day at 4:30 P.M. <br />Councilwoman Gasparini invited everyone to nominate outstanding Redwood City <br />citizens to be honored at the Sequoia Awards dinner in the spring. <br />F. Councilwoman Steinfeld advised there would be dockside tours of the "Lady <br />Washington" historic ship beginning Saturday, October 30th. <br />Councilwoman Steinfeld reported that the Surgeon General of the U.S. was in <br />Redwood City over the weekend honoring the Ellipse Program which originated <br />in Redwood City. Councilwoman Steinfeld asked that Ellipse be recognized by <br />the Council. <br /> MEMO 10/26/93 <br />Councilwoman Steinfeld reminded everyone that an AIDS vigil will take place <br />in the rotunda of the County Courthouse at 5:30 P.M., Friday, October 29, <br />1993. <br />G. Mayor Buchan gave a brief report on the trip she recently took to China to <br />sign the Sister City Agreement with Zhuhai City. Mayor Buchan described the <br />delegation that accompanied her, and the impressive growth of Zhuhai City <br />and its value as a Sister City.
