<br />B. Mayor Buchan heartily congratulated Councilwoman Gasparini for her <br />leadership in the successful Rolison Road clean-up on Saturday morning, and <br />the fantastic barbecue Saturday evening for "Red Ribbon Week" Say No to <br />Drugs campaign at the Senior Center. Mayor Buchan announced that the police <br />beat the firefighters, 20 to 16, in the annual softball game. <br />C. Councilwoman Gasparini thanked the members of the Pride and Beautification <br />Committee for their help in organizing the clean-up, and thanked all the <br />participants from City staff, Neighborhood Associations, the Redwood City <br />Port staff, BFI, and neighbors and residents. <br />D. Councilman Greenalch advised that the City needed to move forward with <br />establishing a Bicycle Committee as a subcommittee of the Traffic Advisory <br />Committee. Councilman Greenalch described the important role Bicycle <br />Committees will play in approval of plans and grants from agencies such as <br />C/CAG. <br />E. Councilwoman La Berge advised she had received a request from a non-profit <br />group, America Supporting Americans, asking if the City of Redwood City <br />would like to adopt the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division (Helicopters), <br />currently in Somalia. Mayor Buchan advised she would have the information <br />distributed to all the Councilmembers and schedule discussion at a later <br />date. <br /> MEMO 11/2/93 <br />F. Councilwoman Gasparini announced that the "Lady Washington", a Tall Ship <br />from the state of Washington, was berthed in the Redwood City Port, and will <br />offer special tours to 1,500 local children over the next week. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />8.
