<br />Councilmembers and staff discussed parking requirements and impacts, <br />accessory dwellings, density bonuses and state laws as they related to <br />the proposed strategies. <br />2. Mayor Buchan opened the Public Hearing at 8:04 P.M. and invited anyone <br />who wished to speak to this issue to please come forward. <br />3. The following people addressed the Council regarding the CHAS strategies: <br />Kathleen Mahany, member of the HHCC, spoke in favor of the strategies; <br />Diane Howard, member of the HHCC, addressed the issue of finding <br />more areas for affordable housing, while maintaining the character <br />of the neighborhoods; and changing guidelines to allow for more <br />use of accessory dwellings without negative impacts. <br />Charlie Greer, member of the HHCC, spoke in favor of the strategies; <br />Deborah Wade, member of the HHCC, spoke in favor of the strategies; <br />Jack Anthony, member of the Senior Affairs Commission, spoke in favor of <br />of the strategies, and asked Council to write their objections and let <br />the Commission work on them and resolve any objections; <br />Stephanie Dean, member of the Planning Commission and HHCC, spoke <br />in favor of all the strategies, especially No.6; <br />Michael Hitchcock, Redwood Avenue, Redwood City, spoke in favor of <br />Strategy 2; and <br />Catherine Couglan, member of the HHCC, asked Council to support the <br />philosophy of affordable housing in Redwood City; <br />Joe Steinfeld, Main Street merchant, asked that Council consider a <br />shared housing program. Council acknowledged shared housing was an <br />excellent idea and that there were several programs in place, <br />including HIP. <br />4. Mayor Buchan asked if anyone else wished to speak.
