MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />A. Councilwoman Gasparini advised she would be unable to attend the regular <br />Council meeting of December 20th due to an annual event at Sequoia YMCA, <br />and asked staff if a decision had been made on whether to cancel that <br />meeting as well as the traditional cancellation of the Monday meeting <br />between Christmas and New Year's Eve. After staff assurance that the <br />meeting of the 20th was not needed, it was declared cancelled by Mayor <br />Buchan. <br /> MEMO 11/16/93 <br />B. Councilwoman Steinfeld described the nationwide problem of guns in the <br />schools, and talked about the successful program in San Antonio, Texas. <br />C. Councilman Sanfilipo told his colleagues about the reception he attended at <br />Rosenor House in Menlo Park, a day care center for the elderly, where <br />everyone thanked the City of Redwood City for its generous contributions <br />over the years. Councilman Sanfilipo showed everyone the beautiful painting <br />by Mr. Lucian that he received on behalf of the City, which would be <br />displayed in the Council Study in City Hall. <br />D. Councilwoman La Berge reported on the wonderful grand opening and ribbon <br />cutting ceremony for the new Safeway Store in Sequoia Station last Thursday. <br />E. Mayor Buchan reminded her colleagues of the Council of Cities meeting this <br />Friday night and urged everyone to attend; and, congratulated the Code <br />Enforcement Division of the Building Department on its very informative <br />newsletter "The Force." <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />8.
