<br /> Councilwoman Steinfeld advised that the Council has scheduled community <br /> meetings to discuss safety issues on February 7th on law enforcement, <br /> February 14th on traffic safety issues in Redwood Shores, and February <br /> 28th to discuss appropriate expenditures of Proposition 172 funds for <br /> public safety. <br /> Mayor Pro Tem Claire advised that State Senator Hart has sponsored a bill <br /> concerning gun registration and suggested Mrs. Diaz Vivian might want to <br /> support gun registration efforts. <br /> Councilwoman La Berge thanked Mrs. Diaz-Vivian for her courage to come <br /> forward with suggestions to eliminate a terrible problem, and urged <br /> others to get involved through their neighborhood associations and the <br /> Police. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> B. Cynthia Escoto, 1034-17th Avenue, Redwood City, also spoke to the issue <br /> of random and dangerous gunfire. Mrs. Escoto asked that Council consider <br /> the gunshot location system that Mr. Sandoval is proposing; a Task Force <br /> be established to explore scanner ideas that students may be studying <br /> through graduate programs or business grants; and utilize the "We Tip" <br /> program. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini advised that the Community Policing Officers would <br /> be in contact with both Mrs. Diaz C-Vivian and Mrs. Escoto, and thanked <br /> them both for coming to the Council with solutions. Councilwoman <br /> Gasparini stated that a wide array of solutions, including citizen <br /> involvement as the key element, would be needed to solve this problem. <br /> MEMO 2/1/94 <br /> Mayor Pro Tem Claire advised that the City is well aware of the problems <br /> on and near Rolison Road and advised that the City is working to <br /> eliminate them, but needs citizen involvement to help stop the gunfire. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> C. Don Saye, 2021 Broadway, Redwood City, advised Council that many <br /> businesses along Broadway were hit with graffiti over the weekend, and <br /> suggested it was time to enforce the curfew. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 2.
