During these workshops, EKI will typically present
the results of our infarmation review and data analysis, and suggest ways of incorporating
information into the UWMP. This information A w►orkshop-bosed approach
represents an intermediate work product for City review
and feedback resulting in a Draft UWMP that has, in w►11 add tremendous value to
effect, already been vetted by the City, reflects the the 2035 UWMP development
outcome of strategic decisions made during the process and rrake the most of
workshops, and only requires minor revision prior to the y staff teme.
development of the UWMP.
In EKl's experience, this workshop-based approach has added significant value to our clients in
terms of:
 Keeping key parties informed of the UWMP development progress;
• Providing a forum for praductive discussions on key water planning issues, including:
o Methodology for developing projected water demands,
o Analysis of available water supplies,
o Response to the Governor's Executive Order B-29-15,
o Confirmation of SBX7-7 baselines and targets, and
o Water conservation assumptions and WSCP development and implementation
• Reducing the number of draft report submittals and therefore the associated document
reproduction costs, report revision costs, and staff time for document review;
• Facilitating efficient communication and feedback on key UWMP components;and
+ Resulting in a more robust work product while requiring less time from staff.
EKI will Identif/Oprertanitwes fcar Eficercad ost Saeirs
EKI has identified several opportunities for the City to more cost-effectively develop its 2015
UWMP, including:
 SeauencinUWMP Development with the Availabilitv of Information: It will be critical
to sequence the UWMP development with the acquisition of key supporting information
(e.g., BAWSCA Common Language), the timing of which cou{d impact the schedule for
completion of the UWMP. Through the UWMP workshop approach described above,
EKI will work with the City to facilitate effective internal and external caordination and
information transfer and to match work efforts and times with the availability of data.
 Benefittin from Reional Coordination: As with prior UWMPs, EKI understands that
BAWSCA will be developing information and language that can be included in all
Page  15
___:.. , . ....._._ _ _._ _______ _.,._...
Redwood City Public Works Servfces Department 2015 UWMP (EKI BS-078)
ATTY/AGR2015.248/EKI -Development of 2015 Urban Water Management Plan
