ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Keith Daum, 563 Scott Avenue, Redwood City, described the frustrations and goals of the
neighborhood coalition he represented (members of the coalition stood up to be recognized). Mr.
Daum read a statement providing the background of his neighborhood's attempts to have Council
approve the purchase of SRI's Urban Gunfire Location System at a cost of $255,000 from
Proposition 172 funds. Mr. Daum stated his group felt that the Council had turned their backs on the
needs of southeastern Redwood City and the serious random gunfire problem. Mr. Daum stated that
his coalition would "actively campaign for those who actively seek solutions to our concerns and
actively oppos(e) those who don't" Mr. Daum added that "We are all members of this community
and need to work together to make Redwood City a better place to live in." Mr. Daum stated the
Council needed to take action now, and thanked Vice Mayor Claire for suggesting a "secret witness
program" at the February 7 Council Meeting.
MINUTE BOOK NO. 52
Page No. 145
, - ,--"
