<br /> City Manager Everett presented a report on revenues and operating expenditures. <br /> - <br /> 1) Proposition 172 Funds <br /> 2) Annual salary adjustments <br /> 3) 2% to 3% grow in services and supplies <br /> 4) NPDES flood control district funding <br /> 5) One-time monies transfers with an exception of $288,000 to fund balance <br /> 6) Additional revenue options <br /> Mayor Buchan invited anyone who wished to speak to please speak at this time. <br /> Joe Steinfeld, 850 Main Street, Redwood City, spoke about public safety; and suggested the <br /> Council cut non-public safety staff up to 5%. <br /> Heather Shotwell, 9 Tidewater Drive, Redwood City, representing the Redwood Shores <br /> Homeowners Association asked Council to set aside funds to build the community <br /> center/school in the Redwood Shores neighborhood. <br /> Council Members discussed all the impacts of the Finance Director's statistics and the City <br /> Manager's recommendations. Council expressed concerns regarding the need for adequate <br /> staffing levels in the Police Department; the need to consider interests of law abiding <br /> citizens in public safety strategies; and the need to focus on crime prevention "front end <br /> funds." <br /> In response to Council questions, Police Chief Guardino advised he had never stated there <br /> was a public safety crisis in Redwood City, as one citizen had been suggesting. Police Chief <br /> Guardino advised he would submit a report to Council describing present staffing levels and <br /> what he believed would be the optimum staffing and equipment levels.
