<br /> 5) Parks, Recreation and Community Services (taken out of order.) <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffiths presented the <br /> Department budget and described all the projects taking place in Redwood Shores, <br /> including: Marlin Park, Shannon Way Playground, the Belmont School/Redwood City <br /> Community Center project, the new maintenance facility, the Lido landscaping; and <br /> the hiring of a new Park Supervisor. Director Griffiths discussed the projected <br /> revenues from the new Red Morton Center, and Supervisor Hannon described the <br /> Red Morton Center fund raising projects, including the tile program that was extended <br /> to August 15, 1995. <br /> Tamara Puille, member of the Civic Cultural Commission, described the importance <br /> of the Red Morton Center, cultural events and achievements in Redwood City, and <br /> made a plea for an additional $15,000 for permanent art in the new Red Morton <br /> Center. <br /> At 1054 P.M., MIS: STEINFELD/SANFILIPO TO EXTEND THE MEETING <br /> UNTIL 11:15 P.M. <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-133 <br /> Superintendent Hartman described the Civic Cultural Commission's proposals for <br /> their 1995/96 FY budget and presented the Commission's requests including the <br /> guidelines and grants processes; the new policy that gives the Civic Cultural <br /> Commission responsibility for disbursement of their total budget, $62, 595; the <br /> $15,000 formerly for the Fox theatre would now be used for that site or other kinds of <br /> activities or sites, and the proposed budget would continue to earmark $30,000 for <br /> 1995/96 FY for Peninsula Center Stage as part of the application process as any group <br /> that comes before the Commission requesting funds. <br /> Councilman Sanfilipo talked about rotating art throughout the community and with <br /> neighboring communities to save money on the cost of art. Superintendent Hartman <br /> advised that issue was being discussed for the new City Hall, and the Civic Cultural <br /> Commission believed that permanent art pieces were also desired. <br /> In answer to Council questions, Director Griffiths described the boards, committees <br /> and commissions supported by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services. <br /> Councilwoman Howard discussed the services of the Child Care Coordinator and <br /> advised she would like to see that position funded at 30 hours again, and <br /> acknowledged that some objectives had not made it to the printer for the Child Care <br /> Coordination budget objectives. <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO. 53 <br /> Adjourned Special Council Meeting Budget Study Session Minutes Page No. 243 <br /> July 10, 1995 <br /> Page 6 <br /> ---.. .-.u <br />
