3. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY A. Dr. Winston Acevedo, President of the Redwood City Kiwanis Club announced that the Farmers Market will open on April 30, 1994 and will be open every Saturday through November 19, 1994, from 7:00 A.M. until noon. The Farmers Market is located at Winslow and Middlefield. The Redwood City Kiwanis will be celebrating their 70th anniversary on April 29 at the Sequoia Club, and invited the Council. B. Fire Chief Fink thanked the Council for approving the use of Fire Station #9 for the Special Olympics Power Lifting Team, Chief Fink introduced Fire Prevention Officer Dave Anderson, Coordinator and Assistant Coach for Special Olympics. Dave Anderson introduced Special Olympics Area Director, Jim Dugan. Mr. Dugan provided some historical information about the Special Olympic program and introduced Larry McDonald, Head Power Lifting Coach who in turn introduced the team. Richard Dunning a member of the team thanked Council for their support. Slides of the Special Olympics program were shown. 4. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS None. 5. PUBLIC HEARINGS None. 6. BOARDS, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS None. 7. STAFF REPORTS Councilman Greenalch requested that Item 7B be taken out of order at this time. B. Countywide Economic Development Plan (702-02) REPORT: City Manager, Everett, April 6, 1994 City Manager, Everett spoke about the advantages of the collaborative approach to the Countywide Economic Development Plan. This effort is not a conflict with the Chamber of Commerce, Councilman Greenalch discussed the small investment in terms of money but incalculable returns to the community, and the fact that the San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce is behind this effort.
