D. Proclamation declaring Arbor Day, April 23, 1994; (301-04) Mayor Buchan read the proclamation declaring Arbor Day in Redwood City, April 23, 1994, and presented it to Pauline Truscelli, member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, and representative of The Natives Daughters of the Golden West, Bonita Parlor No. 10. Mrs. Truscelli described the importance of Arbor Day in Redwood City and her pet project of "Tree Plaques" in honor of important citizens Mrs. Truscelli introduced 1994's recipient of the annual Tree Plaque, Marie Amaya. Mrs. Truscelli thanked Director Griffiths, Superintendent Hartman, Arborist Mann, Supervisor Kucala and all the Parks employees for their support of this program. Mrs. Truscelli invited everyone to attend the Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 23, 1994, at 2:00 P,M., in Red Morton Park. MEMO 4/19/94 Mayor Buchan called on Joe Steinfeld who submitted a speaker's card. Joe Steinfeld, 850 Main Street, Redwood City, asked Council to reconsider a project that will cut down 14 mature shade trees in downtown Redwood City. Mayor Buchan told Mr. Steinfeld that his comments were not related to the Arbor Day proclamation and asked him to please sit down. City Manager Everett advised that the project Mr. Steinfeld was referring to would be coming before the Council at a future date, Over Mr. Steinfeld's continuing commentary, City Attorney Schricker stated, Mr. Steinfeld please sit down.
