Discussion and action on the Human Services Financial Assistance Program for FY <br /> 1994/94, including the approval of funding for La Raza Centro Legal and Shelter Network, <br /> and taking no action on the request from Peninsula Community Foundation. <br /> Magda Gonzalez, Fair Oaks Community Center Coordinator addressed the Council <br /> 1) MIS: LA BERGE/GREENALCH TO APPROVE FUNDING FOR LA RAZA <br /> CENTRO LEGAL ($5,000) AND SHELTER NETWORK ($30,000) <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 94-179 <br /> Councilman Greenalch stated he had received an appeal from Summer Jobs for Youth <br /> and a request for funding in the amount of $2,500. <br /> MIS: GREENALCHIGASP ARINI TO APPROVE $2,500 FOR SUMMER JOBS FOR <br /> YOUTH <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 94-180 <br /> Councilman Greenalch stated he would like to correct a statement that he had made at <br /> the previous Council meeting of July 11, 1994, that the amount of money available in the <br /> Housing and Human Concerns Committee Human Services Financial Assistance Program <br /> had only increased $58,000 in the eight years he had been on the Council. He has since <br /> been informed that approximately $35,000 of that had actually been moved from the <br /> Human Services Budget and put into the Police budget to allow for the hiring of a full time <br /> police officer. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini requested that staff keep the Council informed regarding <br /> pending legislation introduced by Jackie Speier that would allow the use of <br /> Redevelopment Agency funds to support Human Services Programs.
