Councilwoman La Berge suggested that the HHCC budget process be revised so that the
City Council decides first how much money will be given to them to work with. In that
way the Committee would know the amount of funds available to them which should
facilitate their determination of how the money should be spent.
MEMO 7/19/94
Councilwoman Gasparini felt that it would be advantageous to review the HHCC
funding process as well as goals and objectives in this area.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.D. Public Hearing - Recommended Annual Budget, July 1, 1994 - June 30, 1995
Affidavit of Publication of Notice of Hearing is on file in the City Clerk Department
1. Staff Report: Director of Financial Planning, July 18, 1994;
Finance Director Ponty reviewed the requested fund changes that had occurred since
the beginning of the budget process. He requested that any motion Council makes also
references these changes.
2. Mayor Buchan opened the public hearing at 9:10 P.M.
3. Mayor Buchan called on anyone who wished to speak to this issue to please come
forward.
Joe Staudt, Broadway merchant, asked if improvements for the 2600 block of
Broadway were in the budget. He asked when the City was planning to put in the new
sidewalks and other repairs.
City Manager Everett stated that sidewalk repairs on Broadway are in the budget.
Community Development Director Nelson stated that sidewalk repair and
replacement are in the same project, although it is labeled as sidewalk repair, and it
includes Broadway from Main to El Camino, but does not include narrowing of any
streets. City Manager Everett suggested staff discuss this project with the merchants
on the 2600 block of Broadway.
Councilman Sanfilipo requested that staff look at how narrowing the street would
affect traffic flow. Director Nelson stated it was being done.
4.
