B. Bernard Steinhouse, 7 Woodhill Drive, Redwood City, President of the Woodhill Estates
Homeowners Association, presented a petition to Council requesting support of the City of
Redwood City in opposing any low income or multi-family projects on the property
located at the corner of Wood hill Drive and Farm Hill Blvd. The petition requested that
the City represent the group in any proceedings in Woodside or the County, and to oppose
any such development. Even though the development would not be within the City limits,
children living in the units would be attending Redwood City schools.
C. Julie Baigent, 13 Woodleaf Avenue, member of the Woodhill Estates Homeowners
Association, expressed opposition to the proposed project. She read a letter to Council
previously sent to the Woodhill Homeowners by the City of Woodside stating that should
a development come under consideration at that site there would be one acre minimum lots
with single family residential units only. She spoke in opposition to multi-family rental
units. Upon the City Manager's request, Ms. Baigent stated she will give a copy of the
letter to staff.
MEMO 7/19/94
D. Jim Ochsner, 49 Woodhill Drive, Woodhill Estates Homeowners Association, also spoke
in opposition to any proposed low income housing off Farm Hill Blvd./Woodhill Drive.
E. Susan Russell, Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition, stated that any plans for a project are
quite preliminary. She stated that she was available to answer any questions Council
might have.
Mayor Buchan pointed out that this item was not a scheduled item on this Agenda and
therefore could not be discussed. She suggested that Ms. Russell meet with the Woodhill
Homeowners representatives.
City Manager Everett, informed Council that he had spoken to the City Manager of
Woodside, and there is nothing before the Woodside City Council at this time; and the
Woodside City Manager will contact him if any project of this nature is presented to them.
Councilman Greenalch requested more information, but stated he is ready to take a stand
on the matter of where low income housing should be placed in Redwood City.
Councilman Greenalch asked that this item be scheduled for a future agenda.
MEMO 7/19/94
City Manager Everett told Council that he felt it would be helpful if the Planning
Departments from Redwood City and Woodside met with the people from Woodhill
Estates Homeowners Association.
MEMO 7/19/94
MINUTE BOOK NO. 52
Regular Meeting Minutes Page No. 323
July 18, 1994
Page 2
..~.- -- .., --,..~,..__.'".'"'"._._.._.~.--_..
