ATTY/RES0.0001/CC RESO MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN & BICYCLE PROGRAM REV: 01-08-16 VR Page 1 of 3 RESOLUTION NO. ___ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY SUPPORTING THE KENNEDY SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT AND THE HIGHWAY 101 UNDERCROSSING PROJECT AND SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS FOR MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE KENNEDY SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT AND THE HIGHWAY 101 UNDERCROSSING PROJECT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, that WHEREAS, the City is committed to increasing the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians and promoting active transportation within Redwood City, and WHEREAS, the City completed a walking audit for Kennedy Middle School and held two community meetings to discuss improvements specifically for the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Goodwin Avenue, and it has created the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project to implement the audit recommendations and intersection improvements, and WHEREAS, it will cost $1,500,000 to implement the project scope, and WHEREAS, the City has committed to building a bicycle and pedestrian connection for new and existing residents east of Highway 101 to access the services and amenities (including Downtown Redwood City) west of Highway 101, and it has created the 101 Undercrossing Project, and WHEREAS, it will cost $3,000,000 to implement the project scope, and WHEREAS, the City wishes to sponsor the implementation of the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project and the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project, and WHEREAS, the City seeks $500,000 for the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project and $500,000 for the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project, and WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988, the voters of San Mateo County approved a ballot measure to allow the collection and distribution by the San Mateo County 6.3.B. - Page 4
