ATTY/RES0.0001/CC RESO MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN & BICYCLE PROGRAM <br />REV: 01-08-16 VR <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Transportation Authority (TA) of a half-cent transactions and use tax in San Mateo <br />County for 25 years, with the tax revenues to be used for highway and transit <br />improvements pursuant to the Transportation Expenditure Plan presented to the voters <br />(Original Measure A); and <br />WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the voters of San Mateo County approved <br />the continuation of the collection and distribution by the TA the half-cent transactions <br />and use tax for an additional 25 years to implement the 2004 Transportation <br />Expenditure Plan beginning January 1, 2009 (New Measure A); and <br />WHEREAS, the TA issued a Call for Projects for the Measure A Pedestrian and <br />Bicycle Program on November 10, 2015, and <br />WHEREAS, the TA requires a governing board resolution from the City in <br />support of the City’s applications for $1,000,000 in San Mateo County Measure A <br />Pedestrian and Bicycle Program funds for the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project <br />($500,000) and the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project ($500,000), and <br />WHEREAS, the TA requires a governing board resolution from the City <br />committing the City to the completion of the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project and <br />the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project, including the commitment of matching funds in <br />the amount of $3,500,000 needed for implementation ($1,000,000 for the Kennedy Safe <br />Routes to School Project and $2,500,000 for the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project), <br />and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Redwood City <br />1. Directs staff to submit two applications for TA Measure A Pedestrian and <br />Bicycle Program funds for $500,000 for the Kennedy Safe Routes to School Project and <br />for $500,000 for the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project. <br />2. Authorizes the City Manager to execute a funding agreement (or funding <br />agreements) with the San Mateo County Transportation Authority to encumber any TA <br />Measure A Pedestrian and Bicycle Program funds awarded. <br />6.3.B. - Page 5
