25 | Page

Surveys were also collected from parents dropping children off at summer day camp at Stulsaft
Park, between July 18 and July 23. Although staff attempted surveys at multiple locations, all
responses were ultimately collected at Stulsaft Park. A total of 85 surveys were collected.
Outcome: Before the start of the pilot, 26 percent of visitors walked to the park, 4 percent took
the bus, and the rest rode in a car. Table 27 shows how people got to Stulsaft Park – most
arrived in a car, but 26 percent walked.
Table 27 Transportation Mode Split for Visitors to Stulsaft Park
Mode
Percent
Pre-Pilot During Pilot
Walk 26% TBD
Bike 0% TBD
Bus 4% TBD
Other 0% TBD
Non-auto Subtotal 30% TBD
Car 70% TBD
Source: Redwood City (7/18/15 -7/23/15)

Next Steps: The “during pilot” data will be collected during the summer to match the season
when the “pre pilot” data was collected.
Objective 11: Increase feelings of comfort and safety for all roadway users
Why: Farm Hill Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue serve important roles within the community
and neighborhood – both connecting people to regional destinations (jobs outside the city,
airports, etc.) and to local ones (park, places of worship, neighbors, etc.) – and people should
feel safe using it.
Measurement: The intercept survey described above collected data on perceptions of comfort
and safety of people using Farm Hill Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue. A copy of the survey
instrument is included in Appendix B.
Outcome: As shown in the tables below:
· 48% of respondents felt very comfortable or comfortable traveling on Farm Hill
Boulevard while 11% were not comfortable or felt very uncomfortable.
· 58% of respondents felt very safe or safe traveling along Farm Hill Boulevard while 16%
felt unsafe or very unsafe.
8.A. - Page 36
