REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />February 22, 2016 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />3rd Amendment to Agreement with the County of San Mateo for Information and <br />Referral Services Provided at the Fair Oaks Community Center <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Third Amendment to <br />the agreement between the San Mateo County Human Services Agency and the City of <br />Redwood City for Information and Referral Services provided at the Fair Oaks <br />Community Center for FY 15-16 in a total amendment amount of $27,988 for a total <br />agreement amount of $290,706 <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City and San Mateo County’s Human Service Agency (“HSA”) have had a long <br />standing partnership to provide services to low-income families, single parents, seniors, <br />disabled persons, and individuals seeking assistance in meeting their basic human <br />needs. The Fair Oaks Community Center’s Human Services Division in the Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Department provides safety net services as one of <br />eight Core Service Centers throughout the County. The Division expects to provide <br />these services to 1,800 unduplicated households comprised of approximately 4,250 <br />unduplicated individuals per year. An additional 100 households comprised of <br />approximately 250 unduplicated individuals will be served based on the CDBG <br />(Community Development Block Grant) offset funding award for FY 2015-2016. <br />Approximately 1,600 emergency services are delivered each year. The City’s obligation <br />to HSA is to report actual numbers of unduplicated households and individuals that it <br />provided services to in the following categories: <br /> <br />· Contacts with residents of the County <br />· Needs assessment <br />· Emergency material assistance (food, shelter, infant needs, transportation) <br />· Emergency shelter and homelessness prevention services via financial <br />assistance programs <br />· Crisis intervention <br />· Information and referral services <br />· Advocacy services <br />· Financial evaluation <br />· Housing services <br />6.1.A. - Page 1
