NOTICE OF INTENT <br /> <br />To Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration for <br />the City of Redwood City, Public Works Division <br /> <br />Use of Copper to Control Algae and Aquatic Vegetation <br />In Redwood Shores Lagoon <br /> <br />The City of Redwood City, Public Works Division (City) is proposing to begin to use copper- <br />based aquatic herbicides to control aquatic weeds in its water bodies within the Redwood Shores <br />Lagoon. <br /> <br />The proposed project would include the following elements: <br /> <br /> Application of copper-based aquatic herbicides; and <br /> Monitoring and reporting to the State Water Resource Control Board (SWRCB) and the <br />Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) <br /> <br />To comply with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the City <br />authorized Blankinship & Associates, Inc. to prepare an Initial Study for the proposed project. <br />The Initial Study includes an environmental checklist that evaluates the potential environmental <br />impacts of the proposed project. Based on the results of the Initial Study, the City has <br />determined that the proposed project can be carried out without significant impacts on the <br />environment. Therefore, the City proposes to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration in order to <br />meet its obligation under CEQA. <br /> <br />Prior to taking final action on the proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration, the City will <br />consider public comments on the Initial Study and proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration. All <br />interested parties are invited to submit written comments to: <br /> <br />Terence Kyaw <br />Assistant Public Works Director <br />City of Redwood City, Public Works Division <br />1400 Broadway <br />Redwood City, CA 94063 <br /> <br />The Initial Study, proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration, and supporting documents are <br />available for public review at the above address during normal working hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 <br />p.m. The Initial Study and proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration are also available <br />electronically on the City’s website (http://www.redwoodcity.org/departments/public- <br />works/storm/lagoon). The public review period begins on 10/29/2015 and ends on 12/1/2015. <br />All written comments must be received by the close of business on the last day of the review <br />period. <br /> <br />A public hearing on the proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration will be held during the City <br />Council Meeting scheduled for February 8, 2016 at 7:00pm in the City Council Chambers at: <br />City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, 94063. After consideration of all comments, <br />the City will either certify or reject the proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration. <br /> <br />6.3.A. - Page 154
