5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Recognition of Trees of Joy Initiative - Garrick Family - George and <br /> Lainie Garrick and Volunteers - Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee thanked the Garrick's for their significant contributions, and in absentia, he <br /> presented the certificate of recognition - due to unforeseen circumstances the Garrick's <br /> were unable to attend. Mayor Gee read from the certificate of recognition and then <br /> invited a member of the community, business, or organization to take over this <br /> wonderful initiative in future years. <br /> B. Report from Kat Lion - City Representative to the Board of Trustees, San <br /> Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District <br /> Ms. Lion presented a report to Council which provided statistics on West Nile Virus <br /> incidents in San Mateo County. She commented that the goal is to have more <br /> coordination with neighboring Districts. She added that with the end of mosquito <br /> season, the District will focus on ticks and rodents and performing testing in various <br /> local parks. Ms. Lion said they are seeking a new District Manager and they expect to <br /> have a decision on this position in February. She reported on the Open House held, <br /> and thanked Council Member Howard for attending. <br /> Council Member Howard noted that she enjoyed the tour and she appreciated the <br /> science and medical personnel available to share details and information. Ms. Lion <br /> added that the District hired a new Public Information Manager, adopted a new logo, <br /> reformatted their monthly report, and is revamping its website. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Jackie Marinos with the Redwood City U10 boys AYSO (American Youth Soccer <br /> Organization) shared the accomplishments of a team often boys who are "amazing <br /> players". She said they continue to be undefeated and they are now in the Northern CA <br /> undefeated champions category. They will now play Southern California champions in <br /> March and they wanted to meet the Mayor and the City Council. <br /> Mayor Gee invited his colleagues and the soccer players to meet and greet one another <br /> and to allow for a photo opportunity. <br /> 7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Seybert/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar excluding Agenda item 7.4.A. <br /> Motion carried 6-0 by electronic vote with Council Member Foust absent. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Seybert to approve Consent Calendar item 7.4.A. Motion carried 5-1 by <br /> electronic vote with Howard recused and abstained and Vice Mayor Foust absent. <br /> 1.
