opened and read aloud at the office of the City Engineer on March 11, 2016. These
bids are summarized below.

The bid submitted by Bay Area Paving, Inc. is believed to be reasonable and responsive
as it is a low bid. Moreover, Bay Area Paving Inc. has performed several other contracts
of this nature for the City. Staff is confident Bay Area Paving will complete the work
according to specifications and recommends awarding the contract to them. The
contract includes the construction of wheel chair ramps at locations identified by Staff as
needed.

The contractor will be compensated based upon the amount of work performed during
the course of the Agreement.

ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct Staff to rebid this
project.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for this project have been previously approved and appropriated in the Sidewalk
Replacement Program with an available balance of $502,231.00, and in the ADA Ramp
Program with an available balance of $74,200.00.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the 2015-2016 Cost
Shared Sidewalk Repair Program meets the CEQA Exemption criteria as set forth in
Section 15301, (Existing Facilities). Furthermore, this project has been designed
compliant with the City's Engineering Standards and accepted practices.

MICHAEL GIBBONS
PUBLIC W ORKS SUPERINTENDENT

CONTRACTOR BID AMOUNT
1 Bay Area Paving $377,750.00
2 SpenCon Construction $489,050.00
3 J.J.R.
