The Park, which was assembled over decades, is
approximately 32 acres. The Park contains highly used sports fields, two playgrounds,
and several buildings including the administrative offices at the Community Activities
Building (CAB) of the City’s Parks Department. The project area is generally
concentrated on the west half of the Park and includes the larger of the two
playgrounds, a well-used picnic area and small parking lot near Valota Road. The
project will also focus on improvements to the main pedestrian entrance into the Park
from Valota Road and the street crossings surrounding the Park to improve pedestrian
safety. In addition, the project area will address pathway improvement that will better
connect facilities and features throughout the Park, sports field viewing areas, and the
large parking lot near the CAB.

On November 20, 2016, following a Request for Qualifications and Fee Proposal
(RFQ/P) selection process, the panel selected SSA Landscape Architects, Inc. to
provide professional services for the design, preparation of bid documents and
construction support for project. The scope of work includes public meetings and the
preparation of a preliminary design, design development, cost estimates and
construction documents for competitive bidding for the renovation of portions of the
Park. The consultant is expected to facilitate community workshops with residents, staff
and committee members in English and in Spanish.

6.1.D. - Page 1
