Mayor's Beautification Committee Awards to eighteen (18) recipients <br /> (301-17) <br /> Mayor La Berge presented a history of the Pride and Beautification Committee <br /> and the Mayor's Beautification Committee awards program that evolved from <br /> it. The Mayor advised that there were so many applications this year, new <br /> categories were developed to recognize the many achievements of residents <br /> and businesses. Mayor La Berge thanked Councilwoman Buchan President of the <br /> Committee, and this year's three judges from the Civic Cultural Commission, <br /> Betty Moran, Rosemary Fisher and Virginia Ball. <br /> Mayor La Berge and Rosemary Fisher presented the plaques to the following <br /> recipients: <br /> COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES <br /> 1. Best Use of Space: STAR "9", 2219 Broadway <br /> Owners: Josephine Prichard and Patricia Schermerhorn <br /> Ms. Prichard and Ms. Schermerhorn arrived late and were presented with <br /> their plaques at the end of the ceremony. <br /> 2. Most Unique Use of Space: SECRET STAIRCASE, 2223 Broadway <br /> Owners: Jeanette Starrett and Diane Blakely <br /> Ms. Starrett and Ms. Blakely thanked the Council for this award and <br /> thanked the people of Redwood City for welcoming them to their community. <br /> 3. Most Innovative: CITY PUB, 2620 Broadway <br /> Owner: Paul Dazey <br /> Paul and Ann Dazey thanked the Council and stated it was "good to be <br /> noticed." <br /> 4. Most Improved: EXECUTIVE BILLIARDS, 2644 Broadway <br /> Owner: A. L. Offield <br /> Mr. Offield was unable to attend. <br /> 5. Best Remodeled: 901 MAIN STREET <br /> Owners: Michael Sposito and Barbara Tyson <br /> Mr. Sposito and Ms. Tyson advised their that partner, Joan Brant, was <br /> unable to attend the meeting, and thanked many members of the City, <br /> Housing and Redevelopment staffs for their assistance. <br /> Ken Rolandelli, Chairman of the Historic Resources Advisory Board, <br /> presented a Certificate of Recognition of their efforts in restoring <br /> their storefront. <br /> 6.
