<br /> Mayor La Berge opened the pubJjc H~aring at 9:06 p.m. and invited anyone who <br /> wished to speak to please dö:sð~ "No one wished to speak. <br /> M/S: BURY/MURRAY TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE AND HEARING CLOSED AT 9:07 P.M. <br /> M/S: GREENALCH/BUCHAN TO REQUIRE A LICENSED CONTRACTOR BE USED BY THE OWNER <br /> TO REHABILITATE THE PROPERTY (LATER WITHDRAWN) <br /> City Attorney Schricker advised that the condition of requiring a licensed <br /> contractor was an interesting point in the law, but he would consider it a <br /> valid condition at this time. <br /> Council Members discussed the owner acting as a general contractor and <br /> hiring licensed skilled workers; what the 30-day period accomplishes for the <br /> owner and the City; past Council abatement decisions; and authorized <br /> Building Inspector Schnell to remove the doors on all abandoned appliances <br /> at 406 Cedar Street immediately. <br /> MEMO 8/18/92 <br /> AFTER FURTHER DISCUSSION THE ORIGINATOR AND SECONDER OF THE MOTION AGREED TO <br /> WITHDRAW THE MOTION. <br /> In response to questions from Council, Building Inspector Schnell advised <br /> that due to the history and condition of this property and others, he and <br /> community policing officers are inspecting other properties owned by the <br /> same owner, Mr. Al Davies. <br /> TITLE READ. M/S: BUCHAN/MURRAY <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 11821 CONDEMNING BUILDINGS AT 406 CEDAR STREET AS A PUBLIC <br /> NUISANCE AND DIRECTING RECONSTRUCTION OR REMOVAL THEREOF <br /> ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 6. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Councilman Greenalch described his meeting with the City Manager, Community <br /> Development Director and City Engineer to discuss the ten miles of <br /> unimproved streets in Redwood City. Councilman Greenalch suggested the <br /> Council review the current policy of limited service through establishment <br /> of a subcommittee to research and report back to the Council. Councilman <br /> Claire volunteered to join Councilman Greenalch on the subcommittee. <br /> CONSENSUS: It was determined by mayor La Berge to be the consensus of <br /> Council to go forward with this approach and study the City policy regarding <br /> unimproved streets.
