7.B. - Page 139
RESPONSES TO COMMENTS FROM CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, DISTRICT 4, LOCAL DEVELOPMENT—
INTERGOVENMENTAL REVIEW (SEPTEMBER 23, 2013)
The City of Redwood City (the City) is responsible for the financing, scheduling, and
implementation of the U.S. Highway 101 Pedestrian Undercrossing and Bair Island Road
Storm Drain Pump Station Project (the Project). The Project has no federal funding and
does not require a fair share contribution. The City's responses to the comments from
the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are below. In order to confirm
that these responses addressed Caltrans concerns, City telephoned Sandra Finegan, on
October 8, 2013 and sent a copy of the following responses via email on October 10,
2013. If necessary, the City will work with Caltrans to make sure its issues are resolved
prior to the submittal of the application for an encroachment permit for work within the
state right-of-way.
Comment No.1-la
Table A is added on Typical Sections (sheet 22 of 47) to show the clearances between
the path and the bridge deck soffit every 25 ft along the path section under the US-101
bridge.
Comment No.1-1b
Table A is added on Typical Sections (sheet 22 of 47) to show the bridge deck soffit
elevations and path elevations every 25 ft along the path section under the US-101
bridge.
Comment No.1-2a
Profiles on sheets Retaining Wall Plan 1 (sheet 27 of 47) and Retaining Wall Plan 2 (sheet
28 of 47) show 2 lines representing the bridge deck soffit and the path. "BOTTOM OF
BRIDGE DECK" CALLOUTS ARE REVISED TO "BRIDGE DECK SOFFIT" to indicate more
clearly what the line represents.
Comment No. 1-2b
State ROW line and stations on both sides of the bridge are added on the profiles on
Retaining Wall Plan 1 (sheets 27 of 47) and Retaining Wall Plan 2 (sheet 28 of 47).
Comment No. 1-2c
The elevations of the bridge deck soffit and path were already shown on the profiles on
Retaining Wall Plan 1 (sheets 27 of 47) and Retaining Wall Plan 2 (sheet 28 of 47).
"BOTTOM OF BRIDGE DECK" CALLOUTS ARE REVISED TO "BRIDGE DECK SOFFIT" to
indicate more clearly what the line represents.
10
