Public Comment <br />Frank Bartaldo, President of Bay Area Bank and Director of Sequoia <br />YMCA, stated that as a non - profit, YMCA needs money as well. He stated <br />that a childcare program is being eliminated and the hope is to venture into <br />a new program called, "Citizen Schools ", an after school mentoring <br />program being funded by the Peninsula Foundation. The Fit Kids program <br />helped 75 families' children of the Hawes Elementary School and is <br />recommended for funding. He thanked the Council and city for its support. <br />Michelle Smith, spoke on behalf of the Youth Mentors and team members <br />of Friends for Youth which receives city support, thanked Council and staff <br />for work involved. She stated that the program is based in Redwood City, <br />providing one to one mentoring to local youth. With the help of volunteers <br />and supporters such as the City, they have provided a wide range of <br />activities, friendship, support and opportunities for local children.
