Barbara Kalt, Director of Peninsula Volunteers, Inc., along with Bertha <br />Cervantes of the Meals on Wheels program, stated that the program serves <br />over 125 people living in Redwood City. This program serves those who are <br />seniors, people with disabilities, those at risk of nursing home placement <br />and those who are able to remain active in the community because of <br />these services. She thanked the City for the support and stated that the <br />community organizations collaborated with are giving a lot for the money. <br />Byron Swerfeger, Ellipse Peninsula Aid Services, thanked the Council for <br />the continued support. He stated that the previous amount of funding is not <br />being appropriated and volunteer services are increasing along with <br />cutbacks to Redwood City. He thanked the City for the support and <br />expressed the hope in working with the city in the future. <br />Kitty Lopez, Executive Director of Samaritan House, asked that the ongoing <br />investment in the free medical clinic in Redwood City helps those who have <br />no health insurance or additional money to pay for healthcare costs. She <br />thanked Council for the ongoing support. <br />Kurt Edwards, Unit Director of the Boys and Girls Club on the Peninsula, <br />thanked the Council and commended the wonderful job. He stated that the <br />funding of the City has enabled additions to the teenage academic <br />program. <br />Renee Zimmerman, Executive Director of Family Connections, thanked the <br />Council for the past and continued support of the HSFA program. She <br />stated that the program is a great way to leverage funding and support all <br />the human service agencies working to improve the lives of Redwood City <br />residents. <br />Douglas Styles, representing Youth and Family Enrichment Services, <br />thanked Council for the generous support in the past and encouraged the <br />continued support of these services.
