6.1.G. - Page 1 REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager May 9, 2016 SUBJECT Amendment No. 1 to the FY 2015-2016 Extended Day Learning Services Agreement between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City School District RECOMMENDATION By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute Amendment No. 1 to the FY 2015-2016 Extended Day Learning Services Agreement between the City and the Redwood City School District to increase the contract price from $737,386 to $766,114 BACKGROUND The Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department, in partnership with the Redwood City School District (District), operates After School Learning Centers, directly on school campuses to over 1,100 children in Redwood City and the North Fair Oaks Area each year. The City has been a partner with the District for the past 17 years serving those children who have been specifically identified needing academic support and/or who would benefit from social and recreational enrichment programs. For the 2015-2016 School Year, the City is managing programs at the following schools: Fair Oaks, Selby Lane, Henry Ford, Hoover, Hawes and John Gill. Services include after school tutoring, recreation and enrichment programming such as life skills and family education opportunities. The majority of funding for the programs comes from After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) State and 21st Century Community Learning Federal grants managed by the District. The City provides an after school program Coordinator on each site, and maintains a 1:15 ratio of Youth Development Leaders to children. The City also works with many other partners to provide quality activities and educational experiences. Program partners include: Redwood City 2020, Redwood City Family Centers, Hidden Villa, Tutorworks, YMCA, Stanford University, John Gardner Center, Police Activities League, Sheriffs Activities League, Boys and Girls Club, and others. Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement reflects the increase in "base" funding for Hoover School only for additional extended day academic and enrichment services.
