Request by Kenneth Rodrigues & Partners, Inc. on behalf of Hamilton � <br /> Winslow Properties LLC for a Downtown Planned Community Permit, <br /> Tentative Parcel Map, Parking In-Lieu Application, Disposition and <br /> Development Agreement, and a Right-of-Way Vacation over a portion of <br /> a City-Owned Parcel to develop a new 5-story mixed-use building and <br /> underground parking garage at 815 Hamilton Street (609) <br /> Ms. Karen Vaughn, Principal Planner, provided a full overview of the project <br /> (presentation on file). She covered the various components of the project in detail. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Stephanie Kolkka, owner of two retail stores in downtown Redwood City, spoke in <br /> support of this project. She stated she feels it is attractive and will have a positive <br /> impact on the downtown environment. She stated her support for the retail space. <br /> Vicky Costantini, a local realtor, spoke about her experience with the Fox Theater as a <br /> lifetime Redwood City resident. She spoke in support of the project which will bring <br /> more to the Fox Theater and downtown. <br /> Jim Kirkland, Redwood City resident, spoke in support of this project. He stated that he <br /> and many residents had misconceptions about this project but as he has learned more <br /> "'"" he has found that this project will bring great improvements to the downtown. <br /> �.• Cuyler Kidney spoke in support of the proje�t. She stated that the local store owners in <br /> Redwood City support this building in general as the city needs more retail space. She <br /> stated that the construction will be difficult but the project is much-needed. <br /> Ed Savage stated that this building doesn't have enough parking for the amount of <br /> office space combined with the retail. He asked how many of the parking spaces will be <br /> electric vehicle charging stations. He stated that he is concerned about having more tall <br /> buildings downtown. <br /> Lee Callister stated that he likes this project and its design. He stated that his main <br /> concern is parking. He spoke about the current availability of parking in downtown. <br /> M/S Seybert/Howard to close the Public Hearing. Motion carried by unanimous roll <br /> call vote. <br /> Council discussion <br /> Council Member Seybert stated that this project was based on the downtown Precise <br /> Plan parking which came from the Environmental Impact Report study. <br /> Ms. Vaughn stated that is correct. Council Member Seybert asked about the parking in <br /> lieu fee and how it is used. Ms. Vaughn stated that money goes specifically towards the <br /> creation of new parking spaces in downtown, such as restriping or a new parking lot <br /> �+ structure.
