Council Member Bain welcomed Ms. Diaz <br /> and noted that he had questions from the community about why it took so long. He stated <br /> that he feels Ms. Diaz will be an excellent choice as someone with an extensive public <br /> service background. Council Member Aguirre welcomed Ms. Diaz. Levy of Benefit Assessments for Fiscal Year 2015/2016 for the <br /> Seaport Centre Maintenance District (507) '""� <br /> ;� <br /> :, <br /> Mr. Haya, Senior Civil Engineer, spoke briefly about the history of this item and the +� <br /> need for the public hearing and election tonight. He stated that the City Council passed <br /> a resolution to levy a Benefit Assessment of$187 thousand upon a public hearing and <br /> election. This is a public hearing for the public and property owners to submit their <br /> written ballots and any protests. <br /> Mayor Gee opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Gee to close the public hearing. Motion passed 7-0 by voice vote. <br /> BREAK TO COUNT BALLOTS <br /> Both ballots passed 100% in favor with no protests received. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> 1. Hold a public hearing. <br /> 2. Count property owner ballots and declare election results. <br /> 3. Adopt a resolution, contingent on the results of the District's property owners' <br /> election, to: <br /> a.
