Dave Gahagen spoke about a partial moratorium on development in Redwood City. He
has lived in Redwood City for the last 30 years, and believes to be a typical resident,
and like most residents, relies on the Council to make decisions that are for the
residents' best interest. He believes that there was a lack of communication to the
residents about the Downtown precise plan and the big changes it would bring. He
believes that there should have been more input from residents.
Merrily Robinson was on the original committee Redwood City 2000, where she worked
witn residents on a vision for Redwood City. She asked the City Council and residents
to review the visions from Redwood City 2000. She also shared the message from the
book, The Lorax, by Dr. Suess, about being greedy and eventually going too far, and
believes that there is an opportunity to slow down.
Eric Lachtefeld, President of the Redwood City Improvement Association, where they
work with property owners and other residents on the Improvement District in
Downtown, said they are increasing the fund for improvements this year and are asking
residents for any ideas for improving the main Downtown area. He announced the
Lantern Light Show starting tomorrow night, September 29, 2015. He also shared that
the association is responsible for the clean sidewalks in the Downtown area and are
running the valet parking. If anyone is interested in sharing ideas, please visit their
website.
Rick Smith thanked the community and spoke about his company White Green, a Pace
- Financing company, working with the City's sustainability team. Pace financing provides
solutions for environmental challenges, and easy access to equity for projects that save
.r. or create energy or saves water. He also believes that a congruent launch of White
green in the area can help with the momentum of the City's environmental initiatives.
Nancy Radcliffe and Tom Cronin shared details about CityTrees.org and they asked
everyone to take good care of our trees and the benefits of having healthy trees.
Paula Stinson is the Interim Executive Director of HEART and she is here to thank the
Council for being a member of HEART and for a potential donation from Mr. DoStart if
the Habitat for Humanity project moves forward.
Jim Crampton is a resident at One Marina and he said that community has no sound wall
to protect it from the noise pollution. He is concerned with the access and exit from the
area and said that a bond measure was going to address this but unfortunately they are
paying taxes but those taxes are not funding those projects.
Brian Irvine is a resident of the Marina Point Community and he has lived there since
2001. He provided detailed concerns about the development of the area and he said that
the Blomquist Extension project has not been addressed and shared his concerns.
Carolynn Beer spoke about the pedestrian undercrosss from Bair Island as it is
dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians to be on Bair Island Road and to cross the
Whipple overpass.
JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD/ September 28, 2015
PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES PAGE 3
MINUTE BOOK NO. 66
Page No. 03
