She said the real """� <br /> problem is that there is only one exit through the Whipple overpass and that this is a `: <br /> safety concern. She believes the City should provide safe ingress and egress for ""� <br /> people's homes. <br /> Interim City Manager Aknin agreed with the assessment from the One Marina residents <br /> and explained that staff has been working with One Marina Board Members on the <br /> pedestrian undercrosss. He noted that the contract for the pedestrian undercrosss will <br /> come to Council before the end of the year. He also spoke on the Bloomquist extension <br /> project and the possible cost for it. <br /> Jimmy Hedges began by thanking the City for cleaning the creek on Cordilleras again. <br /> Then he explained that he sent an email to the City Council on April 24 regarding the <br /> misuse of funds by a certain association under contract. He noted that Mayor Gee <br /> responded to his email and had forwarded it to the City Manager and City Attorney. He <br /> said he never heard from the City Manager and City Attorney regarding the issue. <br /> Tom Linebarger spoke about the Pope and his address about homelessness. Mr. <br /> Lindbarmer also spoke about how homelessness is happening in Redwood City because <br /> residents cannot afford to live here. He believes that we need to provide shelters for <br /> people and that the Council's efforts to shelter our residents are inadequate, in his view. <br /> Nicky Kolokithas is a mother who is deeply involved in her kids' schools and was asked <br /> to speak for the neighbors around the schools and her home because her street is being � <br /> used for pass through traffic every day. She said that people run the stop sign and it � <br /> takes her seven minutes to cross one block. She said that downtown is feeling more like � <br /> San Mateo and brings up the concern about the time it takes emergency response <br /> teams to get through the area. She asks the City Council to slow down and review the <br /> infrastructure of the city. <br /> Tom Kocjan has lived in Redwood City for the last 35 years and has seen a lot of <br /> changes here. He believes that if construction is done right, it can be a benefit. <br /> Diana Reddy, representing Redwood City residents for renters' protection said there was <br /> a purchase of an 86 unit apartment building, causing evictions which will impact many <br /> children. She says that San Mateo County is now the most expensive place to live in the <br /> country. She hopes Council will talk about property rights and displacement of residents. <br /> She asked for a joint Study Session with the San Mateo Displacement Coalition. <br /> 6. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one <br /> motion and one vote. <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Howard to approve the Consent Calendar with the continuation of 6.3B to a <br /> future meeting.
