ii. The Proposer shall describe how battery life is determined and calculated (e.g., by percentage).
The calculation based on current consumption of the meter, features enabled, amount of adequate sunlight,
non-rechargeable battery capacity.
A: Solar Energy Input under adequate sun = 50mAh
B: Energy Drain (no PBP): 2mAh
C: Energy Drain (with PBP): 8mAh
D: Daily Energy Required for Comms/NFCBacklight: 35mAhE: Energy Drain = (24 hours - # pay-by-phone
hours) * B + pay-by-phone hours * C + D
F: Energy Input = A * number of adequate sunlight hours
G: Energy Surplus or Deficit = F — E, and if G > 0 you have an energy surplus, which means the non-
rechargeable batteries are not impacted.
Non-rechargeable battery life (in Days) = Battery Capacity / Energy Deficit
iii. The Proposer shall describe the maximum storage period available, and what data will be stored for
that period.
IPS meters use non-volatile flash memory for the secure storage of all meter event and transaction
information as permitted by PA-DSS and PCI-DSS requirements. This includes payment transactions,
maintenance events, diagnostic events, coin collections, meter faults, battery status, and all other event data
within the meter. This information can be stored indefinitely, but for an active meter, this amounts to 60 days
of operation without a connection to the meter management system. However, under normal operating
conditions, this information will be transmitted to the meter management system and then removed from the
meter during the next meter communication event, and no less than once every 15 hours.
8. Visual Enforcement
a. Meters shall have a means for a PCO to determine payment status through visual inspection of the
meter itself.
IPS complies. The M5 features flashing LEDs for this purpose.
b. Proposal Deliverables — Visual Enforcement
The Proposer shall describe the enforcement process for its meters, including a description of how
PCOs determine the paid status of each parking space. The description shall include a means to
determine meter payment status visually.
IPS complies. The meter display will always show any remaining purchased time on the meter, however, the
primary method of enforcement is flashing LEDs. IPS meters utilize highly visible LEDs in both the front
(red, green and yellow) and the back (pairs of red, green and yellow) of the meter to provide a status
indication for enforcement. The purpose of the rear facing LEDs are for in-car enforcement and larger
distances. The front LEDs are for the user as well as enforcement. The LEDs are capable of being
configured to a specific rate of flashing and can be turned on or off during paid, expired, idle and grace
period. While this can be configured to the specific preference of City, the standard configuration is as
follows.
Red: Meter is expired and/or idle without payment
Green: Meter is paid or within the defined grace period
Yellow: Meter requires maintenance
der.-10,4 -aaa,NHIsci%
r 4- \seat .
, , ,
1 • ....i --fir
REV: 05-05-16 JS
ATTY/AGR.2016.094/IPS Group
