i. The card reader module shall have no electronic intelligence of its own. All of the driver and decision-
making circuitry that establishes communication with inserted cards shall be located on the main
board.
IPS complies. All programming for the card reader comes from the main board.
j. Proposal Deliverables — Card Reader Payment and Processing
i. The Proposer shall describe in detail the step-by-step process for accepting credit card payments
from the time a Customer inserts his/her card to the time the money is deposited in the City account.
Include the name of the gateway processor (if using a third party) and the name of the gateway
software (if the firm uses in-house software). The Proposer shall list all subcontractors involved in each
step (e.g., cellular providers or gateway companies).
Below are the steps of the credit card process. IPS does not require a 3rd party for card processing services
and is a certified PCI-DSS level 1 gateway provider. IPS can utilize T-mobile or Verizon as our cellular
carrier. Redundant internet connections are provided by AT&T and Cox Business Solutions. Monetra is the
name of our in-house processing software and for security purposes we would prefer this information be
held as confidential.
A, ira VISA
•
_ r ,
1 The customer makes a purchase m kt!ermadlon rs svctnq transmrted The Merchant Bank's Processor submits the transaction
at a IPS meter(aao roferred to wvrk ay Jes the leve4 t PCI-DS i a to the Credit Card Network(a system of finanaai entities
as the point of purchase)after certified payment gateway. The gateway that communicate to manage the prose sing.clearing, and
swiping his/her credd card. links into the Merchant Bank's Processor settlement of credit card transactions) Examples include
Vita,MasterCard,Discover,and American Exp oss.
4\
lull
4 The Credit Card Network routes the transaction to the Customer's If authorized, the Customer's Credit Card Issuing Bank sends the appmprlate
Credit Card issuing Bank. The issuing Bank checks the account furtt for the transaction to the Credit Card Nerivork, which pa sea the fund,
of the customer and Issues authorization or declines the to the Merchant's Bank. The bank then deposits the funds into the
transition. This infomiatlon is then transmitted all the way back to merchant's bank account.Ths step Is known as the settlement process and
the point of purchase, and payment is accepted or declined at the typically the transaction funds are deposited into your primary bank account
pant of purchase(meter.) within one to four business days, depending on the Credit Card Network used.
ii. The Proposer shall identify its gateway provider. The Proposer shall be responsible for its gateway
provider's continued acceptance with the City's merchant bank (currently Wells Fargo).
IPS will serve as the gateway provider.
