6.3.C. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> June 13, 2016 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Resolution approving the temporary street closures for the Fourth of July Event <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a Resolution designating event routes for the Fourth of July Celebration <br /> sponsored by the Peninsula Celebration Association and the Redwood City Parks, <br /> Recreation and Community Services Department and approve the temporary street <br /> closures as designated in Exhibit "A" and Exhibit "B" for the Fourth of July Celebration <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Peninsula Celebration Association (PCA) in partnership with the Redwood City <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, has requested permission to <br /> conduct the annual Fourth of July Celebration consisting of a "Fun Run", parade, <br /> festival, and fireworks display. <br /> The annual "Fun Run" will be conducted along the parade route from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 <br /> a.m. The traditional parade will commence at 10:00 a.m. and last until approximately <br /> 12:30 p.m. The arts and crafts fair and festival will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services will sponsor live musical entertainment in <br /> Court House Square from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A fireworks display will be held at the <br /> Port of Redwood City from 9:30 p.m. until approximately 9:50 p.m. <br /> On July 4th, the parade route and line-up area will be reserved from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 <br /> p.m. The arts and crafts fair and festival area will be reserved at 3:00 p.m. on Friday <br /> July 3rd through 8:00 p.m. on Saturday July 4th. Court House Square will be reserved <br /> on July 4th from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> The parade will be conducted in the areas detailed on the map (attached hereto as <br /> Attachment 2) provided by the PCA in its letter dated March 30, 2016. Parade staging <br /> areas require road closures throughout the Centennial Neighborhood. The festival will <br /> be conducted on Middlefield from Broadway to Marshall, Hamilton from Marshall to <br /> Middlefield, Jefferson from Marshall to the entrance to the Jefferson parking structure, <br /> and Broadway between Main Street and Winslow. Live musical entertainment will take <br /> place within Court House Square. Minor alterations to the parade route and festival <br /> areas may be required to facilitate these events. Should alterations be required, any <br /> change to the parade route and festival area locations will be determined under the <br /> supervision and approval of the Police Chief or his designee. <br />
