6.1.A. - Page 9 <br /> EXHIBIT A <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> Contractor will perform Basic Street Sweeping for the City of Redwood City for the course of <br /> the agreement, with the possibility of providing Enhanced Street Sweeping and Leaf Season <br /> Sweeping upon written request from the City. <br /> Definitions and Terms <br /> City--City of Redwood City,California <br /> Curb Mile — A curb mile is defined as the distance the machine sweeper travels with an <br /> effective sweeping width of eight (8) feet from the curb face along an improved street. In all <br /> cases, any reduction in sweeping width from the defined eight (8) feet will result in a <br /> corresponding percentage deduction in the price paid per curb mile; e.g. if the effective <br /> sweeping width is four(4) feet,payment will be 50 percent(50%)of cost per curb mile. <br /> Contractor — The person, corporation or partnership performing street sweeping services <br /> under contract with the City. <br /> Emergency Service — That service which can be requested by the City to be performed <br /> outside the bounds of the scheduled service within two (2) hours of being notified to provide <br /> such service. <br /> I;t <br /> Leaf Season—The five months of the year when leaf fall is the heaviest. This period typically <br /> runs from. October to February. This timeframe is subject to change, and will be <br /> communicated to the contractor by Public Works staff. <br /> Street Debris—All loose, inert, dry waste material including refuse, dirt, rocks, sticks, sand, <br /> glass, metal fragments, cans, bottles, leaves and typical street litter. Street debris does not <br /> include waste materials in the catch basins of storm drains. <br /> Sweeping Path—Specified paved surface distance from curb line or pavement edge in which <br /> scheduled service is to be performed. <br /> Scheduled Service — Sweeping frequency as defined in the contract documents which must <br /> be performed according to the schedule set forth in the contract documents. <br /> Unscheduled Service -- Service which can be requested by the City to be performed outside <br /> the bounds of the scheduled service,which can be anticipated a minimum of twenty-four(24) <br /> hours in advance. <br /> II. Street Sweeping Service <br /> a. Scheduled Service - Contractor will furnish scheduled sweeping service for those <br /> streets designated by the City at the time of the execution of the contract.
