Water Utility Finances & Rates 10 <br /> Water & Sewer Financial Plans & Rate Studies <br />2.5 Regional Water Rate Survey <br />Figure W1 shows a survey of monthly regional water bills for a typical single family home with <br />monthly water use of 8 hcf (approximately 200 gallons per day). Redwood City’s rates are in the <br />lower‐middle range compared to the other regional agencies. The monthly charge for a typical <br />single family home served by a 5/8‐inch meter using 8 hundred cubic feet of water per month <br />(approximately 200 gallons per day) is currently $61.95. This equates to an all‐in cost of <br />approximately $1.04 per each 100 gallons of water, and about $2.04 per day for a typical home. <br />Roughly two‐thirds of single family residential water bills are at or below this level of use. <br /> <br />Figure W1: Survey of Monthly Single Family Residential Water Bills <br /> <br /> <br />Most of the agencies surveyed obtain wholesale water from the SFPUC and have been facing <br />similar financial pressures as Redwood City including large SFPUC wholesale rate increases coupled <br />with substantial declines in water sales.
