Water Utility Finances & Rates  11  <br /> Water & Sewer Financial Plans & Rate Studies  <br />increases, Redwood City water bills are projected to remain in the lower to middle range in future  <br />years.    <br />  <br />Multi‐family residential dwelling units, particularly units in larger apartment buildings, tend to use  <br />less water per dwelling unit and pay lower bills per unit.  Water consumption fluctuates  <br />throughout the year with higher use in the hotter and drier summer months, when customers  <br />typically use more water for outdoor irrigation, and lower use in the wetter winter months.  <br />2.6 Water Demand  <br />Figure W2 shows historical potable water purchases from the SFPUC since fiscal year 1999/00.  As  <br />shown on the chart, wholesale water purchases decreased by roughly 34% from 2007/08 through  <br />2014/15.  Additionally, water purchases in the first half of 2015/16, from July through December,  <br />declined by over 10% compared to the same period in the prior fiscal year.  <br />  <br />Figure W2:  Historical Wholesale Water Purchases  <br />  <br />6.4.A. - Page 38
