ATTACHMENT 3 <br />ATTY/RESO.0063/CC RESO PUBLIC ART <br />REV: 06-20-16 JS <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. _____ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY PROVIDING FOR REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF <br />PUBLIC ART TASK FORCE TO CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br />REGARDING EXPENDITURES OUT OF ART IN PUBLIC PLACES <br />FUND AND PROVISION OF ON-SITE ART <br /> <br /> WHEREAS at the City Council meeting on June 13, 2016, the City Council <br />of Redwood City (the “City Council”) introduced and unanimously approved an <br />Ordinance adding Section 2.38 to the Redwood City Code to establish the “Art in <br />Public Places Fund” and adding Chapter 45 of the Redwood City Code to (1) <br />establish regulations and procedures for provision of Art in Public Places; (2) <br />establish a City contribution of one percent of the City’s Annual Outlay Fund to be <br />placed in the Art in Public Places Fund for provision of Art in Public Places; and <br />(3) require Commercial Development projects over 50,000 square feet to <br />contribute on-site art that is equal in value to at least one percent of the project’s <br />construction valuation or, alternatively, pay an equivalent in-lieu fee, which will be <br />deposited in the Art in Public Places Fund, such Ordinance, the (“Public Art <br />Ordinance”); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Art Task Force is an advisory body to the Civic <br />Cultural Commission on public art projects as provided for in the Redwood City <br />Public Arts Master Plan, adopted by the City Council on July 22, 2013; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 45.050 of the Public Art Ordinance, the <br />City’s Civic Cultural Commission is responsible for reviewing and making <br />recommendations to City Council regarding art work and other legitimate <br />expenditures funded by the Art in Public Places Fund; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 45.110 of the Public Art Ordinance, the <br />Civic Cultural Commission is responsible for reviewing and making <br />recommendations to the City Manager (or designee) regarding art work to be <br />provided on-site by developers pursuant to Section 45.090 of the Public Art <br />Ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Public Art Task Force can provide valuable insight and <br />recommendations to the Civic Cultural Commission when performing its <br />responsibilities under Sections 45.050 and 45.110 of the Public Art Ordinance. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />6.4.C. - Page 23
