ENTRY FEATURES PROGRAM <br /> REPORT: Planning Commission Report and Recommendations: <br /> 1) Two Redwood City signs recommended for approval as shown by the <br /> consultant with the new supports; <br /> 2) Directional signs, the original design for the entry monument, and the <br /> BroadwaYIJefferson signs with banners, recommended for approval; <br /> 3) "Concept B" for the Hamilton Street area recommended for approval; <br /> Planning Director Patterson asked for Council approval of the above <br /> recommendations, described the four public workshops held in June, August, <br /> September and November of 1992, and advised the goal of the entry features <br /> program was to provide identifiable and memorable entries into the downtown. <br /> Director Patterson thanked the consultants and other people who worked so <br /> hard on this project. <br /> Terry Bottomley, with Freedman, Tung, Bottomley and Associates, used <br /> slides to show Concept A and Concept B improvements for Hamilton Street to <br /> tie Sequoia Station to downtown; and to show the proposed archway signs with <br /> updated poles with the original slogan IIClimate best by government testll, <br /> directional signs, signs with banners, and monuments designed as entry <br /> features to the Redwood City downtown. <br /> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> Mayor Buchan declared a recess at 9:05 p.m. <br /> Mayor Buchan called the meeting to order at 9:15 p.m. <br /> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> Ken Rolandelli, Chairperson of the Historical Resources Advisory, advised <br /> that he and the Sign of our Times Committee supported the installation of <br /> two replications of the original archway sign to recapture Redwood City's <br /> historical past. <br /> Dr. Jeff Filippi, Middlefield Road, Sign of our Times Committee, urged the <br /> Council to approve the installation of two archway signs with the original <br /> truss design and poles as described in his original presentation of November <br /> 4, 1991.
