JOINT STUDY SESSION WITH THE REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION <br /> COMMISSION <br /> Mayor Buchan welcomed the members of the Park and Recreation <br /> Commission. <br /> Park and Recreation Commission Chairman Slusser described the goals <br /> and purpose of the Commission. <br /> Vice Chairperson Davis described the Commission's focus and <br /> objectives, including Red Morton Center, youth programs, Redwood <br /> Shores facilities, maintenance programs and public awareness of <br /> parks and programs. <br /> Commissioner Nordness described current programs, history of parks <br /> and the concern regarding overuse of existing facilities. <br /> Commissioner Swope presented a report on Union Cemetery. <br /> Vice Chairperson Davis spoke to the issues of a golf driving range, <br /> the heritage tree appeals program, playground facilities requests <br /> and the proposed trial program allowing dogs in certain areas of the <br /> parks. <br /> Commissioner Howard presented a report on the proposals for Red <br /> Morton Center. <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffiths <br /> presented an update on the Redwood ShoreslBelmont School site and <br /> facilities proposals. <br /> Councilman Claire led the discussion on controlling unauthorized <br /> use of recreation fields. <br /> Councilwoman La Berge led the discussion regarding commitment to <br /> youth activities. <br /> B.
