<br /> In answer to Council questions, City Attorney Schricker advised that <br /> Mr. Conklin was describing a dispute between two private parties, and <br /> since the City was not named in the suit, the issue of the lawsuit was <br /> not within the City's jurisdiction. <br /> Mayor Buchan told Mr. Conklin that the Council was not a party to this <br /> dispute between two private groups, and although she was not happy about <br /> this dispute, she would not be pulled into the middle of it. <br /> F. Don Saye, Broadway, Redwood City, spoke very briefly about the goals of <br /> the Merchants Group. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 2. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> 2-1 Councilman Claire asked to remove Item 2.B. in order to pay tribute to <br /> Gerry Letzring and his efforts on behalf of Little League and recreation <br /> in Redwood City. There was no opposition to this request, and Item 2.B <br /> was removed for consideration immediately following the adoption of the <br /> Consent Calendar. <br /> 2-2 Councilwoman Steinfeld referred to Item 2.H.(a) and (b) and asked the <br /> Council to delay action on approving the issuance of two letter Permits <br /> for art and wine festivals one week apart in September based on: the need <br /> for the two groups to sit down and mediate this dispute; the pending <br /> lawsuit going to trial on April 15; and the staff report's assertion that, <br /> "holding two festivals on consecutive weekends is not in the City's best <br /> interest". <br /> M/S: STEINFELD/ TO DELAY ACTION ON THIS ITEM UNTIL AFTER <br /> APRIL 15, 1993. <br /> Motion died due to the lack of a second. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 93-042 <br /> M/S: SANFILIPO/STEINFELD TO WAIVE READING OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR, ADOPT <br /> RESOLUTIONS AND APPROVE OTHER ITEMS. <br /> ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE WITH COUNCILWOMAN STEINFELD ABSTAINING FROM <br /> THE VOTE ON ITEM 2.A., APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES. <br /> A.
