public meetings were held to gather additional input and make a decision. <br />Approximately 100 people participated actively in the study. <br />Hillsides <br />This initiative was to create regulations to guide development in the hillsides, balancing <br />property owner desires to add on or redevelop their property with the need for <br />community compatibility, safety, and environmental protection. Staff held two public <br />workshops and an online forum to gain community input. Over 3,000 single-family <br />residential property owners were notified of the potential changes, and online <br />notification and social media, including Next Door, were used to contact interested <br />citizens. Several public hearings were held to gather community input in advance of <br />Council discussion and ultimate decision. Approximately 100 people participated <br />actively in the study. <br />Inner Harbor Specific Plan <br />The Draft Inner Harbor Specific Plan and EIR were released in October 2015, following <br />an extensive community engagement process to develop the draft specific plan. This <br />stage of the project started a 130-day review period to gain additional public feedback <br />on the projected environmental impacts and proposed land-use and transportation <br />improvements to the area. A list of over 50 interested citizens has been developed since <br />the inception of the study. This group was notified via email as well as property owners <br />and residents within 300 feet of the project area. A robust project web page and two <br />Planning Commission public hearings were held during the comment period. An <br />additional City Council public hearing was held for further community input. <br />Approximately 150 people participated actively in the study, either by providing <br />comments in writing or at a public meeting. <br /> <br />Finance Department <br />The Finance Department participated in a couple of community meetings and outreach <br />opportunities this past year. The first outreach meeting was with Docktown community <br />members to explain city billing and answer questions. The second opportunity was a <br />meeting with representatives of Homeowners Association of One Marina to hear about <br />their interest in refunding and reissuing the debt on the Community Facilities District <br />(which paid for the road reconstruction of Bair Island Road). <br /> <br />Fire Department <br />7.A. - Page 10
