Literacy Coalition, North Fair Oaks Community Council, Henry Ford PTA, San <br />Mateo County Reading Association, Wider Circle <br />· Offered an ongoing website survey to allow customer recommendations for titles <br />to purchase (average of 8 requests per week) <br />· Hosted Housing Forum in February with approximately 25 attendees discussing <br />HEART, Tiny Homes, and City and County affordable housing initiatives <br />· Established a monthly Tenants Right Program with Legal Aid Society at <br />Downtown Library (attendance varies from 1 to 12 community members each <br />month) <br />· Library Board members engaged customers informally as well as at major library <br />events like Kindercard and discussed feedback at each month’s Board meeting <br />· Library staff partnered with RWC 2020 and Peninsula Literacy Coalition for <br />“Socios for Success” family engagement training <br /> <br />This coming year, the Library is engaging the Haas Center for Public Service at <br />Stanford University to begin a strategic planning effort that will include various <br />community engagement phases and tools including small group meetings, online and <br />face to face surveys and other efforts. <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation, Community Services Department <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department conducts outreach and <br />visioning meetings for parks renovations, provides summer events and volunteer <br />opportunities, and supports various boards, commissions and committees including the <br />Teen Advisory and Youth Advisory Boards. <br /> <br />Specific efforts include: <br /> <br />· ARTS RWC meets once a month to discuss City art items and includes 18-20 <br />community members in attendance each month <br />· Parks and Arts Foundation meets once a month and includes 10-12 community <br />members in attendance each month <br />· The Senior Affairs Commission hosts a downtown event called Elder Abuse <br />Prevention Awareness in conjunction with the Daily Journal and the Ombudsman <br />Services of San Mateo County <br />· The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center is the non-profit fundraising <br />group for the Senior Center. They raise money via Big Money Bingo and the <br />funds support the Nutrition Program, the Computer School, the Gift Shop and <br />Transportation. They have a fourteen-member Board and a ten-member <br />advisory committee that helps to support operations of the non-profit <br /> <br />Several community engagement and outreach efforts related to for park renovations <br />and new facilities were undertaken in FY 2015-2016: <br /> <br /> <br />7.A. - Page 12
