· Enhanced School Safety program includes a wrap-around approach to school <br />policing designed to empower educators and students by supporting a safe <br />learning environment <br /> <br />· Adopt-a-school Program <br /> <br />· Truancy Collaboration program where the Student Attendance Advisory Board <br />and the Multi-disciplinary Team bring several agencies together in order to treat <br />the underlying causes of truancy <br /> <br />· Student Community Advisory Network (SCAN) engages the staff of community <br />schools to identify students who are willing to provide Department members with <br />candid feedback of their perceptions of police practices and neighborhood safety <br />concerns <br /> <br />· Dedication of a sworn police officer to provide full-time onsite campus policing <br />and youth outreach at the City’s main public high school <br /> <br />· Diversion, gang intervention, parenting and counseling programs work with <br />parents and youth to help first time offenders; partner with graduate students <br />from local universities to provide counseling services to at-risk students and their <br />families; gang prevention and intervention classes are offered in English and <br />Spanish; and parenting courses are offered in English and Spanish to anyone <br />who cares for a child or adolescent. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Public Works Services Department <br />The Public Works Services Department leads water conservation and recycled water <br />outreach programs, environmental programs and discusses public works services and <br />programs at various Neighborhood Association meetings. <br /> <br />This past year, the Department hosted sixty-seven outreach and engagement <br />opportunities focused on environmental initiatives, storm preparation, and hazardous <br />waste, reaching 2,994 community members. <br /> <br />In addition, the Public Works Services Department launched a new outreach plan to <br />bring awareness and help residents conserve water. <br /> <br />Strategies included the following: <br /> <br />Speaking Engagement <br />Water Conservation 101 is a public education lecture co-sponsored with the Bay Area <br />Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), offered free of charge to residents. <br />The lecture provides attendees with valuable information on water supplies, drought <br />7.A. - Page 15
