1 <br /> <br /> ATTACHMENT 1 <br />Proposed Communications and Community Engagement Strategies <br />and Tactics FY 16-17 <br /> <br />The overall goal of these strategies is to increase policy engagement and “friend <br />raising” or community building opportunities throughout the year. Many strategies focus <br />on trying to reach residents where they are, in an effort to make it easy for a wide range <br />of community members to be involved in strengthening civic life. <br /> <br />Citywide Communications Strategies <br />1. Strategy: Share the City’s Story through digital and print marketing <br />a. Continue Redwood City Voice Blog and Tell a Friend Thursdays blog <br />series <br />i. Explore other blog series (i.e. budget, events) <br />b. Continue Current City e-newsletters <br />i. Expand new community development enews <br />ii. Create a new quarterly enews focused on Neighborhoods <br />c. Develop videos to inform residents about City programs, events, services <br />d. Continue a mailed newsletter to all City residents <br />e. Use flyers, brochures, banners to share information (explore when to use <br />language translation) <br />f. Use community calendar to promote City and community events <br />g. Encourage residents to subscribe to Emergency Alert System and expand <br />use of this platform (Nixle) <br />h. Manage the City website <br />i. Upgrade department and services pages <br />ii. Encourage and train internal staff on new web tools <br />i. Build and expand the City’s photo library for all City departments to use <br />for advertising and outreach <br /> <br />2. Strategy: Use specific communications tools to inform and engage <br />residents and neighborhood groups <br />a. Develop online survey campaigns on different issues facing the city <br />i.
