The motion was withdrawn and this will be taken up at the Wednesday night <br />study meeting. <br />CITY MANAGER REQUEST AUTHORITY TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A 125 CFM COMPRESSOR FOR THE WATER <br />DEPARTMENT. This item appears in the 1955-56 budget, and the sum of 14,200 was provided to cover the <br />estimated cost. Councilman Britschgi moved authorization of the City Manager to advertise for bids for <br />the purchase of the above compressor, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, CAST IRON PIPE. The following bids were received: <br />U. S. Pipe Co. <br />Pacific States <br />Cast Irion Pipe Co. <br />1600 L. F. 6" C.I. Pipe <br />$1.712 per L. F. <br />Ext. $2,739.20 <br />Total: 153410.80 <br />11.75 per L. F. <br />Ext. 12,800.00 <br />Total: 153531.10 <br />1000 L. F. 81, C. I. Pipe <br />$2.514 per L. F. <br />Ext. x$2,514.00 <br />12.57 per L.F. <br />Ext. $2,570.00 <br />'Tater Superintendent Winter ecommended that the low })id of the United States Pipe Company, in the <br />amount of $5,410.80, be accepted. This was concurred in by the City Manager who noted that payment is <br />to be made from Water Department Surplus. Councilman Herkner moved approval of the recommendations, <br />seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />REQUEST TRANSFER 1600 FROM UNBUDGETED RESERVE TO COVER COST OF SPRAYING CREEKS. Due to the fact that the <br />cost of this work is not chargeable to individual property frontage, it will be necessary that a transfer <br />be made from the Unbudgeted Reserve for the payment of this account. Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION <br />2029 TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR. THE .ABOVE and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried <br />on roll call. <br />Since this comes up every year, Councilman Granger moved that this approximate amount be set up in the <br />budget next year, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />AUTHORIZE FUNDS FOR ACQUISITION OF RESERVOIR SITE. City Attorney reported that the Council had discussed <br />this and the deed is in the hands of the Title Company and the money is needed, that is '23,000 plus <br />title fee. Councilman Herkner moved authorization, money to come from the Water Fund which will be replaced <br />with the bond money when the bonds are sold, seconded by Councilman Stout carried. <br />AUTHORIZE EMPLOYMENT OUTSIDE ENGINEER TO PREPARE PLANS AND SECS CLINTON STREET BRIDGE, between Roosevelt and <br />Oak Avenues. Because of the work -load and vacation season in the Engineering Department, the City <br />Manager requested permission to hire an outside engineer to prepare the necessary plans and specifications, <br />payment to be made from 19:4 Bond Fund. Councilman Granger moved approval of hiring an outside engineer <br />as requested by the City Manager, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />S. P. CO. C011JU4UNICATION REGARDING RUi?BER GRADE CROSSING MATERIAL. In their letter, the Southern Pacific <br />Company stated that in view of our interest in this installation they will develop all information <br />possible on the present behavior and probably life of the crossing material so that they may discuss <br />this type of crossing with the City. When they have received such inform.-3tion they shall arrange to <br />contact the City on this subject. The Clerk was asked. to acknowledge and file the communication. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM MRS. MAMIE GLENNAN RENAMING OF GLENNAN WAY. The Clerk read the letter to the Council. <br />There was no Council action* <br />Mr. Aris Partdos requested that the people be asked to disply their flags on May 30th. Councilman 17eiss <br />moved that a proclamation be issued, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Tom Tuite, Jr. wanted to know the condition of the Parking Lot. City Engineer Jain reported that the work <br />was very slow this past week and to date approximately 40� of total contract only has been completed. <br />CounciLuan Granger moved that a letter be addressed to the people by the proper authorities calling <br />attention to the fact that they only have a few days left and that the Council is preparing to refer <br />0 <br />0 <br />NNW <br />
