resubdivision of lots in this area have been subject to the owners granting the necessary widening strips on Canyon Road And Oak Knoll Drive. This was apparently not called to the Councils attention when the latest rezoning was approved. It is his recommendation, in fairness to the other property ovmers along Canyon Road and Oak Knoll Drive, that this condition be applied to this rezoning. Mr. Lebsack, Assistant City Attorney, advised that this can still be done, since the ordinance for rezoning has not been approved. He also called to the Councils attention that the motion for rezoning by both the Planning Commission and the City Council indicates that entire lots are to be rezoned. It is his opinion that the intention was to wow rezone only partions of lots in this area. Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the ordinance with the stipulations as mentioned in the City Engineer's letter, seconded by Council:;:an Herkner and carried. Councilman Granger asked what happened to the report in regard to the trash cans in Palo Alto. City Manager Rolison said the price f or these cans is 355.00. This was put on the -;enda f or one week for further report. Councilman Granger asked what happened in regard to the sidewalk on Broaclaay. In the interest of public relations, someone from the City should call on these people. Councilman Granger announced that Sunday, Ilay 27th, was set as the date for the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Building. Councilman Granger wanted to know if it was possible to paint the traffic signals with yellow paint. He ?assed this on as to whether or not this should be done. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that when a f ormer city official retired from service, his name plate should be completed to indicate his title, and the dates served with the City. This should be presented to him as a momento of his service. Councilman Granger so moved, seconded by Councilman T7eiss and carried. The City Manager was instructed to follow this through. am% Mayor Royer again stated that he wanted -to try his plan in regard to agenda matters for a period of at least "o one month. Coundilman Granger stated that he did not believe that the Department Heads will take any action on matters written on a piece of paper by a Councilman. If they will go along with this then he will go along with theplan. Councilman Stout was of the opinion that the items covered by the P1inutes ,were not followed through promptly. He suggested that the Clerk prepare a tickler file record the items as they occur. Council— man Stout thoul-ht that the notes pertaining to the study meetings ,-ere very good and he asked that this system be kept up. Councilman `-eiss commented on Councilman Grangers remarks in regard to policy matters. He was of the opinion that these policy matters should be kept in a separate file, copies to be furnished to each counciLiiemoer for future reference. The League dinner will be May 17th at 'dobe Creek Lodge. The Council was asked to notify the Clerk ilonday ON" if they )lanned to attend this meeting. y..r� Claims 19173 to 19310, totaling X108,197.36, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Stout, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Acting Police Chief Idoudakas reported that the Police Department had set up no left turns at the .nipple and El Casino tt..al intersection on friday night and it seemed tow ork out very zcrell. Llotorists desiring to make left turns to get to Bayshore highway were routed to Brei -ester Avenue. Signs were instlled at Arch Street advising the motorists that left hand turns would be prohibited. The Police Department would continue i-dth this system during the peak traffic hours. Councilman Stout report;;d that the sketches have been started on the Branch Library. Councilman Herkner moved that the meeting be adjourned to 1,1ay 14th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried.
