PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMEND CHANGE IN TITLE AND JOB DESCRIPTION COVERING ELECTRICAL WORK IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
The Clerk read the following recommendation:
The Personnel Board at its regular meeting of January 3, 1956, considered a request from Fire
Chief Lodi for a change of title and job description covering the elctrical work in the Fire
Department.
This position is presently classified as "Maintenance Electrician", with a job description
OWN and employment standards that do not apply to the work required to be done on the Fire Alarm
g Board, radio installations and other electrical work. Since a vacancy now exists in this
position, the Personnel Board feels that a more accurate job description is necessary in order
to recruit a fully qualified person for this position, and set up an examination covering the
exact work to be done.
The Board therefore recommends the following action tobe taken by the City Council:
1. Eliminate the classification of "Maintenance Electrician", as applied to the Fire
Department.
2. Adopt the attached job description and title of "Fire Department Electrician",
3e Amend the salary ordinance to authorize this position, with the salary range to
remain the same as provided in the current budget, namely, range No. 21, $371 to $464.
